We’re excited to share our 2026–2027 Cultural Arts programming lineup! Each year, the PTA brings approved community artists to our school to lead curriculum-connected workshops and residencies in writing, visual arts, music, dance, and other creative disciplines for students in grades 2–5.
Programs are held during the school day as part of students’ regular learning experience. If volunteer support is needed for any program, the PTA will send requests separately in the future. Please check out the lineup below so households know what students can look forward to this year!

Brighten your School with Colorful Banners
Leni Newell
Program Type: Workshop/Residency
November 16-20, 2026
Students will enjoy creating large, vibrant, impressive fabric banners that are to be permanently installed in the school cafeteria. Using professional fiber arts dyes, students will be engaged learning a variety of exciting fiber art techniques. Student’s self-esteem will be elevated, knowing they are creating a permanent legacy for their school.
Japanese Magical Journey
Yasu Ishida, Magic Story Artist
Program Type: Performance
February 24, 2027
Combining traditional Japanese theatre, music, origami, magic, and storytelling, Yasu will guide audiences to the enchanting land of Japan. He will share excerpts from a Japanese traditional folktale with origami. Yasu’s programs include stories that he performs with lots of audience interaction and participation.
African Drum Hands
Living Rhythms
Program Type: Workshop/Residency
March 1-5, 2027
Living Rhythms residencies are an exciting and transformative exploration of the drumming and dance of West Africa, while also focusing on the traditional West African values of respect, community, and teamwork. Participants learn rhythms, songs, and traditional dances. The week culminates with a community performance presenting the music and dance!
Coming to America
Mimi Herman
Program Type: Workshop/Residency
November 30-December 4, 2026
During this residency, students will arrive in America in 1901 with nothing but a steamer trunk and their dreams, and discover how to live in a new country without losing their own cultures. As they immigrate, they will integrate, bringing social studies and ELA to life through poetry and drama, and providing students with a deep understanding of the process of becoming an American.
